For reasons that are somewhat unclear, the world of autism attracts an uncanny number of people who are itching for a fight. 

Look at any autism-related blog, online article, conference or magazine, and you'll find angry comments buzzing around like bees who've been smoked out of their hive.

Comments can't physically injure anyone.  But in some cases, threats of physical violence have pushed writers and researchers to seek out court injunctions and write only under pseudonyms.

Study Links Pesticides to Birth Defects

Risk rises for babies conceived in spring, summer, when chemical concentrations peak

Pesticides may increase the risk of birth defects, say researchers who found that the highest rates of birth defects in U.S. babies occur among those conceived in the spring and summer, the same time that there are increased levels of pesticides in surface water.

CDC: Rocket Fuel Chemical Found in Baby Formula

ATLANTA - Traces of a chemical used in rocket fuel were found in samples of powdered baby formula, and could exceed what's considered a safe dose for adults if mixed with water also contaminated with the ingredient, a government study has found.

The study by scientists at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention looked for the chemical, perchlorate, in different brands of powdered baby formula. It was published last month, but the Environmental Working Group issued a press release Thursday drawing attention to it.
